October 2025

I hope you are well and enjoying the change in season as we head into autumn. As you know, I write each month with proposed content for you to use in order to keep your website up to date.

Here are my suggestions for content topics that you might wish to consider when updating your website this month:

  • As conkers are now starting to be found on the ground, it is worth a reminder that acorns and conkers are poisonous to dogs - further information can be found on the blue cross website here.
  • Halloween is approaching and this can bring particular dangers to pets. Here is some advice from Peta on the subject.
  • More general seasonal pet advice for autumn can be found on PDSA website.
  • The 4th October is World Animal Day, how will you celebrate? The RSPCA are organising a weekend of streaming in support of animals across England and Wales, find out more here.
  • Add your latest practice newsletter.
  • Let your clients know about any staff changes that have occurred this month.
  • Equine Autumn brings its beauty but also hidden dangers for our horses. Sycamore trees are now dropping their seeds (known as ‘helicopters’) and leaves, which can travel far on the wind. If eaten, they can cause atypical myopathy, a serious condition that can sadly be fatal. Find out more here.
  • Equine The Horse of the Year Show is at the NEC Birmingham from the 8th - 12th October. Find more information and buy tickets here.
  • Equine The London International Horse Show is on from the 18th – 22nd December at Excel London. Tickets are now on sale, find out more here.
  • Farm New research from the RVC finds using sedation when disbudding calves affects growth rate. Read more here.
  • Farm Keep yourself updated with the latest on Bluetongue here. More essential information about bluetongue can also be found here.
  • Farm October sees the turn of this year’s calves to be weaned, they are also put back into barns around this time before the temperature drops too far. Find advice and information on the AHDB website.

As always, we would be happy to update your practice website for you. Simply email your content changes to hello@onlinepracticesolutions.com and we will get these actioned. Alternatively, you can use our content editor to make changes to your website at anytime.
